Nature, mountains and wine come together in the 2nd edition of the “Cornelio en las cumbres” (Cornelio on the summits), the challenge of Bodegas Cornelio Dinastía.

Last Saturday 24th February we celebrated with great success the second edition of “Cornelio en las Cumbres”. More than 30 enthusiastic mountaineers joined us in a hike from Clavijo to the summit of Rodalillo, in an event that brought together the winners of the 16 challenges that we have been launching in the last year and a half through our social networks.

The initiative was launched in 2021 by José María Sánchez, our general manager. A passionate nature lover from La Rioja, he sought to bring the world of wine closer to mountain lovers. His aim was to promote ecological awareness and highlight the natural beauty of our country.

Throughout this time, we have proposed 31 challenges, travelling through the mountain ranges and exploring different parts of the Iberian System (15 in the first edition and 16 in the second). In each challenge, we deposited a wooden case at the top of a mountain with a message addressed to the lucky person who found it, as well as a special prize: a batch of Cornelio and Vega Vella wines, along with the honour of having conquered the “Cornelio Summit”.

At the end of this last edition, we gathered the winners for an exciting team walk. José María thanked all the athletes for their courage and fearless spirit, acknowledging that without them none of this would be possible. These passionate mountaineers looked forward to each challenge, motivated to surpass themselves and reach the coveted prize. This marriage of nature and wine has become a dream come true, giving life to an exciting adventure.

After the climb up the mountain, we all enjoyed a delicious paired meal at the Divot restaurant on the La Grajera Golf Course. There we announced the winner of the photography contest launched in this edition, rewarding the creativity and originality of David García for his image captured during the fifth challenge (from Puerto Piqueras to Cerro Berrocal). David received a case of wine and two nights for two people at La Posada de Ajamil, in Ajamil de Cameros (La Rioja).

New editions await us that will be full of surprises. If you don’t want to miss anything, we encourage you to follow us on our social networks.
