On Sunday 16th October Bodegas Cornelio Dinastía completed the first edition of “Cornelio en las Cumbres”. To celebrate the event, more than 40 mountaineers climbed Mount Toloño together. Most of them were the winners of each of the 15 challenges that the Riojan winery has been launching over the last twelve months.
It all began a year ago when its general manager, José María Sánchez, a Riojan, passionate about nature, tireless innovator, visionary and convinced environmentalist, set out to bring the world of wine closer to mountaineers. His idea was to launch a campaign to promote ecological awareness and to showcase the most natural features that our country has to offer.
Since then, 15 have been the feats proposed through the social networks, taking as a reference different points of the Iberian System. The challenge is as follows: a wooden case with a bottle and a message addressed to the person who finds it is placed on different summits. The mountaineer who finds it wins, in addition to the achievement of having conquered the “Cumbre Cornelio”, a batch of Cornelio and Vega Vella wines.
José Mari thanked all the attendees, as the success of these challenges has been largely thanks to them, passionate mountaineers who looked forward to each challenge to surpass themselves and achieve the coveted prize. After the climb up the mountain, everyone enjoyed a pleasant meal with food and wine at the Casa Toni restaurant.
Bodegas Cornelio Dinastía have announced that there will be a second edition, and that they will not only stay in La Rioja, so we will have to keep an eye on their social networks to find out what other parts of the country they will conquer next.
