The importance of being an organic wine in La Rioja, Cornelio Dinastía.

The commitment to organic agriculture is the future of food, the world of wine is no exception and wineries that work their land with this demanding criterion have greater possibilities for exporting their products to certain countries that demand organic wines. Bodegas Cornelio Dinastía has made a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility by producing organic wines with the guarantee of the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin.

These wines come from vineyards grown in the foothills of Toloño, Sierra Cantabria, in poor soils, ferrous clay, calcareous clay, and some on the edge of the bedrock, as is the case of the octogenarian Viura variety, the originator of its renowned white wines. The nature of its grapes is positively influenced by a climate that is more than generous for the perfect development of the fruit, an Atlantic climate with Mediterranean influence, with cold winters, summers with warm days and cool nights that allow the correct phenolic maturity and mild Septembers and generally low rainfall in the final stretch of the vegetative cycle.

Both in the field and in the winery, pruning, cleaning of the canopy, green harvesting, harvesting; artisan work is applied in which the wisdom passed down from generation to generation, the passion for good work and the curiosity to combine the above with the use of innovations in order to achieve the best results result in excellent grapes. The subsequent work in the winery allows us to obtain Vega Vella Orgánico, a wide range of organically certified wines from vineyards that have been cultivated organically for more than three decades. In the last edition of Mundus Vini 2024 Grand International Wine Award these wines have been awarded Vega Vella Autor 2021 with Gold Medal, Vega Vella Blanco HH 2021 with Gold Medal and Vega Vella Reserva 2015 as Best of Show.

From its old vines, located in Rioja Alta, in the Golden Mile between San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Ábalos, Briones and San Asensio, and cultivated with the utmost respect for the ecosystem to obtain the best fruit following the principles of Organic Agriculture, which provide differential parameters to Traditional Agriculture, the Cornelio Dinastía range is born. Made with the most representative native varieties of Rioja: Tempranillo and Garnacha for red and rosé wines and Viura for white wines. These grapes are grown in the winery’s most important plots, part of the 30 plots that represent its vineyard. They are goblet-trained and occupy an approximate surface area of 35 hectares at altitudes of between 480 and 600 m. The wine Cornelio Imperial Autor JM was considered by the Decanter Best in Show 2022 Awards with 97 points. The wines Cornelio Dinastía Crianza 2020 and Cornelio Imperial Autor 2021 have achieved the distinction of Silver Medal in the last edition of Mundus Vini 2024 Grand International Wine Award.
