BODEGAS CORNELIO DINASTÍA WINS THREE GOLD MEDALS AT THE BERLINER WINE TROPHY 2021

Bodegas Cornelio Dinastía continues to leave the flag very high in its international competitions. This time it is the Berliner Wine Trophy, the world’s largest wine competition, where its wines have won no less than three Gold medals. Specifically, the awards have gone to Cornelio Imperial Autor 2017, Cornelio Gran Duque Reserva 2016 and Vega Vella Monovarietal Graciano 2017.

This international wine award is considered the most important in Germany. Its relevance is such that in this edition it has received 7,000 samples from 40 countries.

These awards at the Berliner Wine Trophy are added to those obtained this week at the XII Ecovino Awards, the international organic wine competition, where it has swept with a Great Gold, 6 Golds and 1 Silver.

In the Berliner Wine Trophy 2021, the three awarded wines of Bodegas Cornelio Dinastía are the following:

Cornelio Imperial Autor 2017 comes preceded by a long list of distinctions in the most prestigious competitions. This is a 100% Tempranillo wine, grown in our own vineyards, more than 50 years old and located at an altitude of more than 500 metres above sea level.

This wine comes from the most demanding selection of the best grapes. It undergoes malolactic fermentation in new American oak barrels to maintain all the colour and structure. Free-run production without following any Rioja ageing criteria. It normally remains for approximately 14 months in new American oak barrels and in the bottle for more than a year. Special bottle for its good preservation.

Cornelio Imperial Autor has earned these awards: 95 points Decanter 2020 for the 2016 vintage; Gold medal in Mundus Vini 2020 for the 2016 vintage; Silver in the World Tempranillo Championship 2020 for the 2015 vintage. 95 points Gold Decanter 2019 for the 2014 vintage. Gold at the Concours International de Bruxelles 2019 for the 2014 vintage; Gold at Mundus Vini 2019 for the 2015 vintage and Gold at the Berliner Wine Trophy 2019 for the 2015 vintage.

Cornelio Gran Duque Reserva 2016 is a Tempranillo wine that is made from vintages considered exceptional that can achieve the optimal characteristics for the production of this sublime wine. It comes from a careful selection of grape clusters from our own goblet-trained vineyards between 50 and 70 years old located in Rioja Alta, in a balanced clay-limestone soil, in the towns of San Vicente, Briones and San Asensio, in the foothills of Sierra Cantabria.

Selected among the best reserve tastings, with a laborious ageing system, by the winery’s team of oenologists. Second fermentation in new barrels. Aged for 26 months in new barrels and 10 months in the bottle. Bottled in a special 900-gram bottle to better preserve its excellent qualities over time. Served in pinewood platé of 3 and 6 bottles. It is presented in luxury packaging.

The third Gold went to Vega Vella Monovarietal Graciano 2017, a wine from organically grown grapes from our own vineyards located in La Rioja Oriental. With an exclusive selection of bunches of the Graciano variety of lower production and older grapes, a meticulous elaboration is carried out, which ends with an ageing of 14 months in new French oak barrels and 10 months in the bottle; a wine that surprises with its aromas and flavour, exclusive of few grapes.

In organic farming we must highlight the herbaceous formation of microclimates, where the flowering and existence of these remain intimately linked to the flower and berries of the bunch, which dazzle with their nuances.

Vega Vella Monovarietal Graciano 2017 boasts a long list of awards, such as 95 points at Decanter 2020. Gold at Biomellisime 2020; Gold at Ecovino 2020 for Vintage 2017 and, finally, Gold at Mundus Vini 2020, Gold at Berliner Wine Trophy 2019.
